


This new 46,500 sq ft academic building is was part of the masterplan development by St. Modwen Developments for the Bay Campus of Swansea University. It provides international students with a supportive environment in which to enhance their academic potential. The planning approved scheme was designed by Porphyrios Associates with Piper Whitlock Architecture taking on the project at the beginning of 2017 to develop the planning drawings through to construction. The building opened on the 17th October 2018.

Internally the teaching, offices and ancillary spaces are located around a central triple-height atrium space which functions as a place for meeting, informal learning and social interaction. A large glazed roof light above the atrium space provides natural light to the centre of the building.
The south of the building faces the seafront promenade providing both amenity and southerly exposure. The terrace at ground level offers an open space encouraging public activity and bringing the public realm to life.
Open terraces on the southeast and southwest corners of the second floor provide additional external amenity spaces and spectacular views out to sea.
